Mangalam Research Center
The Mangalam Center in downtown Berkeley, CA is where many of the projects and organizations within our mandala are based, including the Guna Foundation. Other organizations housed here include the Tibetan Aid Project, Nyingma Trust, the Light foundations, and the Dharma Publishing Bookstore. Our research library for the study of Buddhism in the West is currently under development in the Mangalam Center.
Light of Buddhadharma Foundation International
The Light of Buddhadharma Foundation International (LBDFI) was founded in 2002 in California with the aim of helping to revive the Arya Sangha in the holy land of India. In order to achieve this long term aim, the Foundation has undertaken to encourage experienced Bhikkhus and Bhantes to visit India in increasing numbers, to improve the facilities at the great sites of pilgrimage and to stimulate the training of Indian Bhikkhus.
Under the direction of Venerable Tarthang Tulku nine World Peace Bells have been offered at each of the sacred places of the Buddha. It has also sponsored the construction of butter-lamp houses as well as the construction of public toilet and shower facility in Bodh Gaya, India. In addition to these activities, LBDFI has sponsored the training of 108 monks in the chanting of Pali and is currently developing a program for the training of novice monks in Sarnath during the annual vassa retreats over the coming years. Finally, the foundation has started the printing of the Tipitaka for free distribution at the International Tipitaka Chanting Ceremony.

Nyingma Trust
Nyingma Trust was established to help support the group of practitioners who have been guided by Tarthang Tulku Rinpoche since 1969. Our community members live simply and receive no salary for their contributions of energy, devoting themselves full time to the Bodhisattva practice of compassion, wisdom and preservation of the Dharma. Nyingma Trust hopes to gather substantial savings to ensure that this community of devoted practitioners can safely and securely continue their study and practice of the teachings of the Nyingma tradition. The funds raised by the Trust support our longevity as a strong community that both maintains the vision that Tarthang Rinpoche has set in motion, and finds new ways to offer the Dharma to the world.
