TNMC Documentary
Currently, our main project is the production of a feature length documentary that chronicles the history of one of the largest Tibetan preservation organizations in the world, the Tibetan Nyingma Meditation Centers (TNMC).
Since being founded in Berkeley during the early 70’s by Tibetan lama Tarthang Tulku Rinpoche, TNMC has grown immensely.

About Yak Liberation
Few cultures on earth rely as heavily on one animal species as do the Tibetan people on the yak. More than a tangible food source, they occupy a special place in the Tibetan people’s hearts and identity.
The harmonious relationship between Tibetans and yaks is now being compromised as modern cultures begin to encroach on the ancient ways of life in Tibet.

Yak FAQs
Why did you decide to focus the animal liberation project on yaks? What is their significance to the Tibetan people?
Yaks have been a vital part of the lives of rural Tibetans for centuries – without them, life would not be possible for the nomadic families who roam the harsh Tibetan plains. Not only are they beloved icons of Tibetan culture, they play an integral role in the traditional Tibetan way of life and ecosystem of Tibet.

In October, the Guna Team spent a week gathering footage of the TNMC's Berkeley, California facilities and at Ratna Ling retreat center in Sonoma County. Our cinematographer, Allen Moore, got some breathtaking shots of the places where the TNMC's work to restore Tibetan civilization takes place. We also sat down for some fascinating interviews with longtime members of the community.

Look forward to seeing this footage in our documentary film, which will be completed in 2011.
Our second annual benefit event on October 8th was a smashing success, thanks to our wonderful guests, donors, and volunteers!

Guna's short films about the history and work of the TNMC were very well-received. See a short video from the event in our video gallery.
